Philip Burton, LPCC, LADC

Phillip Burton is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC) and Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LADC) and believes as a therapist everybody "gets stuck" from time to time in their life. Philip focuses on individual strengths, challenging intrusive thoughts or ineffective behaviors to help people get "unstuck". A therapist nearly 20 years, taking a no nonsense approach to assist clients in not just feeling better but being better at "feeling". Philip believes therapy is about movement and becoming "emotionally fit", and thinking about starting therapy, can be intimidating. Sharing personal struggles takes courage and being open to change takes even more courage.

Philip has worked in a variety of settings including over eight years in the correctional system and has extensive and substance abuse treatment experience, having worked in residential and outpatient settings for substance abuse. Philip utilizes several different modalities including EMDR, DBT therapy as well as person centered therapy, believes that he not expert on you, you are the expert on you and he will come alongside you to meet your goals. Philip utilizes principles in quantum physics looking specifically at the science of change and how to rewire your brain for different outcomes creating coherence between the heart and the mind. Philip works with individuals 14 years and up, couples and families and helping to navigate difficult, stressful times by learning tools and rediscovering effective coping skills that each individual has. Philip assists clients in understanding their own particular challenges and help build their confidence in their ability to exert control over their own motivations, behaviors, emotions and environments.
