Ben Hintz, MA
Ben has received his Master of Arts degree in Marriage and Family therapy
at Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota and his Bachelor of Applied Science
in Psychology from the University of Minnesota Duluth. Currently he is working
towards LMFT licensure. He has experience working with a wide variety of people,
from adults, teens, kids, to families and couples.
Ben believes every client and every client system is unique and is prepared to
meet people where they are at. In clinical practice he pulls from ideas related
to attachment theory, intergenerational family therapy, experiential, CBT,
mindfulness, solution focused, emotion focused and narrative therapy. Ben believes
that the success of therapy relies on the strength of the relationship between
client and therapist and he works hard to build safety and trust throughout sessions.
In his practice Ben has tried to be a calming, caring presence, moving at the pace
set by the client, while not being afraid to gently challenge patterns to push
clients closer towards their goals.
Areas of interest include family and relational dynamics, couples struggling with
communication, anxiety, depression, gender identity, LGBTQI+ affirming care,
spirituality, emerging adults struggling with identity or feeling lost, and
children and adolescent self-esteem concerns. Ben believes we are all experts
of our own journey and that our experiences shape our view of the world and of
ourselves. He looks forward to getting to explore the world through the diverse
experiences of his clients.
